主に東南アジアの降水を中心に、観測、データ解析、数値モデルを用いた研究を展開している。教育に関しては、本人の希望をできるだけ尊重すること、自分で問題を発見し解決方法を勉強しながら模索する習慣を身につけさせることにより研究能力を高めることを目指している。

My research topic is focused on precipitation phenomena in South-East Asia. The approaches are observation, data analysis and numerical modeling. As for education, I intend to help students to find research topics and grope the way to find solutions by themselves.

研究概要

海陸風・山谷風・山岳波や驟雨・集中豪雨などのメソ（水平数km～千km）スケールの現象を中心に、これらの現象の気候への影響まで視野に入れつつ数値モデルを中心に用いて研究している。特に地表（含む水面）との関係に興味を持っている。ここ数年は熱帯のモンスーンと水循環に関し、ドップラーレーダーや衛星データや地上気象データの解析と数値シミュレーションを行っている。

I'm interested mainly in meso-scale phenomena such as land-sea breeze, mountain-valley wind, mountain waves, and local torrential rain by using numerical models. Especially, I have a strong interest in effects of surface characteristics on atmosphere. In recent years, I analyze doppler radar data, satellite data and surface observation data and also run numerical models to study tropical monsoon and water circulation.
